In India, aadhar card is the most popular document that is widely accepted throughout India. Various banks place a high level of trust over this card because of a single yet complete KYC document. This card serves all the requirements from the bank's perspective.

Aadhar is a 12 digit unique number that is issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) to Indian residents.

Aadhar is issued only to Indians who are living in India for at least 182 days.  However, if your days are less than 182 days, you are not eligible for aadhar card. The process of obtaining aadhar card is very easy. Just submit the required documents such as passport, driving license, Kissan card, Voter id or Photo ATM card to support your application.

At the time of applying for aadhar, please keep in mind that you have to provide your demographic details to the data entry staff at aadhar Centre.

At the time of data entry, it is more likely that spelling mistakes might occur. This is your responsibility to double-check the data before allowing the data entry officer to proceed further. When you apply for aadhar card, it will not cost you any fees. However, if you are going to make any correction subsequent to the new application, you will be charged fees by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).
Though, the data entry is the most common cause of aadhar card correction. But there is another common cause which is the name of change due to change in the marital status of a girl. In this case, newly married girl name changes due to the addition of the husband's name. This change has to be account for in the UIDAI database as it is a very necessary step for husband, wife and their kids.

In order to apply for name change in case of a newly-married girl, a marriage certificate along with the husband's aadhar is to be submitted at the aadhar enrollment centre. This is a necessary step as without these, girl name change process will not take effect. Often newly married couples ignore the importance of this process and as a result, when their kids take birth, they have to face several problems.

There are two main methods available for aadhar card correction. One is online and the other is offline. Online method is helpful as you do not need to visit any place physically as all can be done via UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) website. Over there, you will find links for changes in name, address, mobile number, etc. You have to enter the Captcha code as well as OTP that will be delivered to your registered mobile number in the form of an SMS message.
